Meeting for Worship for Climate Action
As part of a global week of climate action by people of faith, we will be worshiping outside the home of Vanguard CEO Tim Buckley. We will sincerely pray for Tim Buckley to come under the weight of the climate crisis, and for divine guidance and courage for ourselves as we seek to pressure Vanguard to change course. This action is open to people of all beliefs but grounded in Quaker silent worship.
As it happens, this is also the 250th anniversary of the death of Quaker abolitionist John Woolman, who was willing to take actions that were uncomfortable, including visiting people at their homes, when that was what he felt Spirit calling him to do. (If you want to read more, check out this article on what we can learn from Woolman today that’s relevant to this action.)
The group will meet at the St. Davids train station, which is served by the Paoli/Thorndale regional rail line and is 1 block away from the 106 bus. A few days before the action, we will send registrants a form to offer and request carpools. Make sure to sign up here if you don't want to miss that!
We'll march as a group from the meet up location to the action location 0.5 miles away. For anyone who cannot walk that distance, we will provide a ride in a van to the action location.
Let us know if there is a financial barrier to participating in this action, such as transportation, childcare, or lost wages. We have funds available. Please email Ryan at [email protected] for more information and to share what would support you to attend.
And please join us on Saturday, October 1st for a training for prepare for the action.
