Building Winning Campaigns: Direct Action Strategy Lessons From Bayard Rustin

Campaigns to win more just, inclusive, and sustainable futures have a secret ingredient: escalation. Building on a January 2022 strategy conversation with Terrance Wiley and George Lakey, Matthew Armstead will lead a nonviolent direct action training on escalation on April 2 from 1 - 4 pm at Haverford College

Matthew has organized for environmental justice, racial justice, LGBTQ liberation, and accountability among masculine-identified people. They serve as a core trainer with Training for Change - a training and capacity building organization for activists and organizers. They have recently trained Black Lives Matter activists, B Lab executives, Amnesty International USA staff, Canadian Labor Council organizers, Unitarian Universalist ministers, and United Nations advocates from the Sexual Rights Initiative, among other grassroots and grasstop groups.

This training is aligned with ongoing efforts of the Earth Quaker Action Team (EQAT), and is supported by the Office of Quaker Affairs and Center for Peace and Global Citizenship, in collaboration with EQAT. It is open to off-campus guests, who must register here.
